NWLC Responds to the 2022 Midterm Elections

The following is a statement by Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund:

“This midterm election demonstrated that voters reject the Supreme Court’s devastating decision to take away our constitutional right to abortion, and that voters want policies that protect and enshrine the right to make our own decisions about our bodies, lives, and futures. Across the country voters had a chance to further gender justice through direct democracy. And as a result child care is now expanded in New Mexico, collective bargaining is further protected in Illinois, the tipped minimum wage will be phased out in D.C., and housing will be more affordable in Missouri. This is a reflection of the power of mobilizing—mobilizing women, their families, their communities—and engaging people to channel outrage to action. We’ve seen what can happen with the power of the collective, and we need to take this energy into 2024.”
