The National Women’s Law Center Action Fund (“NWLC AF”) has created this Privacy Policy to explain why it collects particular information and how it will protect your personal privacy within its web sites (“Sites”), including and The following discloses NWLC AF’s information gathering and dissemination practices for the Sites.

In order to fully understand your rights, NWLC AF encourages you to read this Privacy Policy. NWLC AF reserves the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting such changes on its Sites. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting.

Because NWLC AF is committed to your privacy, this Privacy Policy notifies you of:

  1. What personally identifiable information of yours is collected through the Sites;
  2. How such information is used;
  3. With whom your information may be shared;
  4. What choices you have regarding collection, use and distribution of your information;
  5. What kind of security procedures are in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information under NWLC AF’s control; and

What Information NWLC Collects and How It Uses That Information:

NWLC AF’s registration forms for its advocacy network, to purchase NWLC AF materials, or to donate to NWLC AF require you to give it contact information that may include name, email address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. NWLC AF may also obtain information regarding your use of the Sites and their offerings. NWLC AF uses this information to fulfill your requests with respect to NWLC AF’s offerings, support the activities of NWLC AF, and improve its Sites and offerings. If you sign up for the advocacy network, NWLC AF may from time to time use your e-mail address to contact you regarding NWLC AF and issues and activities of likely interest to you. NWLC AF does not share or sell its lists of contacts gathered online or lists of donors who have given online or offline with other organizations, except, in certain instances, with NWLC AF’s affiliated organization, the National Women’s Law Center, and third-party vendors as described below. From time to time, NWLC AF may send you materials by U.S. Postal Service mail when it thinks they may be of interest you. However, if you do not wish to receive materials by U.S. mail, you can let NWLC AF know by emailing [email protected].  

NWLC AF on occasion uses third-party vendors to provide services to its Sites or to NWLC AF. These services can include processing credit card transactions, fulfilling merchandise requests, or facilitating fundraising campaigns. Information you provide on NWLC AF’s Sites may be provided to these third-party vendors on a confidential basis solely for the purpose of providing these services.


If you elect to use NWLC AF’s referral service for informing a friend about NWLC AF’s Sites, NWLC AF asks that you provide the friend’s name and email address. NWLC AF will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting her or him to visit the Site(s). NWLC AF does not store this information beyond the time it takes to send this one-time email.

Share Your Story:

If you elect to use NWLC AF’s Site(s) to share a personal story and/or photos, NWLC AF reserves the right to edit your story and post it on the Site(s) at its discretion. By submitting a story to NWLC AF, you consent to its editing, posting and other use on behalf of NWLC AF’s goals and activities. You also agree to comply with NWLC AF’s Terms of Use.

Internet Protocol Address:

NWLC AF collects an IP address from all visitors to its Sites. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. NWLC AF uses IP addresses to help diagnose problems with its server, administer its Sites, analyze trends, track users’ movement, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for NWLC AF to improve the site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Use of “Cookies”:

NWLC AF’s Sites may use cookies to enhance your experience while using its Sites. Cookies are pieces of information that some web sites transfer to the computer that is browsing that web site and are used for record-keeping purposes at many web sites. Use of cookies makes web-surfing easier by performing certain functions such as saving your passwords, your personal preferences regarding your use of the particular web site, and to make sure you don’t see the same ad repeatedly. All credit card information provided to NWLC AF is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to NWLC AF. NWLC AF also protects account information by placing it on a secure portion of NWLC AF’s web site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of NWLC AF. Credit card information provided will only be used to fulfill your requests. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While NWLC AF strives to protect your information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
