OUR IMPACT

The NWLC Action Fund:

  • Educates voters on where candidates stand on key policy issues affecting women and girls
  • Anchors large-scale advocacy efforts, harnessing the power of feminists across the country at the ballot box, in the streets, and in their communities.
  • Pushes candidates and elected officials to embrace gender justice issues
  • Holds the media and lawmakers accountable for their sexist and racist treatment of women of color in leadership
  • Fights for policy change across the issues that affect women the most, including child care, abortion access, sexual harassment, and more!

2022 Midterm Elections

The National Women’s Law Center Action Fund and the Mothering Justice Action Fund joined forces in the 2020 election to elevate critical issues that affect Michigan women and girls. Together, we drove progressive change at the local, state, and federal levels, and held our elected officials accountable for removing barriers to equality.

2022 Voter Guides

We partnered with eight national peer organizations from around the country to create the inaugural 2022 Midterm Gender Justice Voter Guides to connect issues of abortion access, economic security, education and democracy. The goal of this guide was to educate all voters on the critical issues on the midterm ballot and equip voters with key questions to engage their elected officials to ensure they stood for policies that advance gender justice. Our voter guide work went deeper in our target states and resulted in over 8.8 million impressions. Read below to learn more.

Michigan 2022

To deepen our partnership with Mothering Justice Action Fund, we created the 2022 Michigan Voter Guide. The Action Fund’s voter guide work in Michigan included a multi-part targeted direct mail program that reached 124,645 high potential voters across seven legislative districts – 20,000 of whom Mothering Justice Action Fund identified as women of color voters to be plugged into advocacy and networking opportunities beyond the 2022 midterm elections. In addition to information on key issues of reproductive freedom, democracy, education, and an economy that centers women and families, our Michigan guides also contained candidate assessments that detail how candidates’ records aligned with these gender justice priorities. We also leveraged online video, connected TV, and display advertising that resulted in 5.38 million impressions in Michigan.

Georgia 2022

In partnership with 9to5 Action Fund, we created the Georgia Voter Guide. The Action Fund’s voter guide work in Georgia leveraged online video, connected TV, and display advertising which resulted in 3.5 million impressions in Georgia. Similar to the Michigan voter guides, the Georgia voter guides contained information on key issues of reproductive freedom, democracy, education, and an economy that centers women and families as well as candidate assessments that detail how candidates’ records aligned with these gender justice priorities.

SUPPORTING WOMEN OF COLOR IN LEADERSHIP

In 2022, the NWLC Action Fund has mobilized grassroots activists to support the successful confirmation of several women of color to historic positions in the federal government, including U.S. Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Kristen Clarke, and Assistant Secretary, Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education Catherine Lhamon. Each faced sexist and racist attacks from Republicans in the Senate throughout their confirmations. But the NWLC Action Fund ran digital ads and pushed members of Congress to advance their nominations so each was ultimately confirmed! Watch our video here! We also worked with state partners in Arizona, Georgia, South Carolina, and Maine to support Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States, including:

Maine:

  • Met with Senator King and Senator Collins’ chief of staff
  • Earned media from WMTW News on travel to DC to support Judge Jackson
  • Organized and supported a lawyer sign-on print ad that ran in the Bangor Daily News thanking Sen. Collins
  • Drove calls and emails to Sens. Collins and King

Georgia:

  • Organization sign on letter sent to Majority Leader Schumer, Minority Leader McConnell, Chairman Durbin, Ranking Member Grassley, and Senators Ossoff and Warnock
