NWLC Action Fund Reacts to Senate’s Vote to Confirm Anti-Worker Nominees

WASHINGTON, DC – The Senate will soon vote on the confirmation of over 100 of President Trump’s partisan nominees in a single series of votes. This includes nominees for several positions tasked with protecting the rights of workers, including:

  • Jonathan Berry, author of Project 2025’s labor chapter, as Solicitor of the Department of Labor
  • Brittany Panuccio, as a commissioner at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)

The National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) Action Fund and four other national civil rights organizations sent a letter to the Senate opposing the nomination of Berry. The NWLC Action Fund also authored a letter to the Senate, joined by nearly 60 civil rights and workers’ rights organizations, calling for the rejection of Panuccio’s nomination.

Gaylynn Burroughs, vice president of education and workplace justice at NWLC Action Fund, issued the following statement ahead of the vote:

“These nominees will put Trump’s anti-worker and anti-civil rights agenda into action, making it harder for people across the country to put food on the table, access health care, and make ends meet. Instead of trying to bring down costs for working families, Republicans are busy shutting down the government, threatening people’s livelihoods, and sneaking through dangerous nominees to do the dirty work of this administration, putting workers and their economic security even further at risk.

“The confirmation of Panuccio and Berry will make it even harder for people — especially women, people of color, and LGBTQI+ people — to access jobs and work with dignity, free from discrimination and harassment. We urge the Senate to put workers first and reject these nominations.”
