WASHINGTON, DC (May 17, 2024) — Earlier today, a targeted bombing took place at The American Reproductive Centers in Palm Springs, California, killing one person and injuring four others.
Fatima Goss Graves, president and CEO of the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, issued the following statement:
“This senseless act of violence is a direct consequence of the hateful rhetoric the Trump administration has aimed at people seeking and providing reproductive health care. We are witnessing a disturbing increase in attacks on access to fertility treatments like IVF, including recent efforts in states like Alabama to treat frozen embryos as children. Violent incidents at reproductive health clinics are heartbreaking, though not new. They are fueled by political leaders and movements that stoke fear and division. This attack is a tragic reminder of the real dangers posed by those who deny people the right to make decisions about their bodies and families. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Palm Springs community.”
