NWLC Action Fund Launches Voter Guides in Key States Ahead of 2024 Election

Voter guides outline key issues for voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada

Washington, DC – September 16, 2024 – Today, the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund (NWLC AF), in partnership with grassroots organizations including Mothering Justice Action Fund, 9to5 Action Fund, Make it Work Nevada, and One APIA Nevada, released voter guides in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada. These guides provide essential information on key issues in the 2024 election and will be integrated into NWLC Action Fund’s direct voter contact program, targeting gender justice voters in key battlegrounds who are poised to make a decisive  impact  in this election.

The election outcomes in these states will play pivotal roles in shaping policy decisions that directly affect women, LGBTQI+ people, people of color, and working families.

“This November, reproductive freedom, child care, health care, safe and inclusive schools, and voting rights are all on the ballot. Our voter guides are designed to provide voters with essential information on what’s at stake and where candidates stand,” said Annie Weinberg, senior director of civic engagement at NWLC AF. “While MAGA Republicans are threatening our fundamental freedoms up and down the ballot, voters have the opportunity to elect proven progressive leaders who will champion a more just and equitable country for everyone.”

Key Topics Covered:

  • Reproductive Rights – Defending access to comprehensive healthcare, including the right to safe and legal abortion.
  • Economic Justice and Building a Care Economy – Focusing on policies that allow women and families to thrive, like child care, equal pay, paid family leave, and the minimum wage.
  • LGBTQI+ Issues – Ensuring that all people, including transgender individuals, can access gender-affirming care without discrimination.
  • Racial Justice  – Safeguarding equal access to voting, particularly for Black, Latino and APIA communities who face systemic barriers.

“This voter guide is a critical tool for Michiganders, particularly BIPOC mothers, empowering them to shape the future by voting on issues that directly impact their families—like healthcare, economic justice, and reproductive rights. By voting, we are demanding that our experiences be at the center of policy decisions that affect our lives,” said Tyler Hayes, political director of Mothering Justice Action Fund.

“Women and working families are the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy, yet we continue to face barriers to accessible and affordable care, fair wages and paid leave. This upcoming election, we’re standing up for policies that prioritize economic security for the families in our state,” said Shanda Neal Green, national organizing director of 9to5 Action Fund.

“Make It Work Nevada alongside Black women and women of color to have opportunity, freedom, and justice. We know how important it is to make our voices heard and how critical it is to uplift policies that improve Nevada for everyone. This voter guide explains why this election is so important to Nevadans and empowers voters to ask hard questions and support smart policies,” said Erika Washington, executive director of Make It Work Nevada
