Washington, DC — Fatima Goss Graves, president of the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, offered the following reflection on the work ahead after last week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
“The Harris-Walz ticket is the most gender justice-focused presidential campaign in our history, and that was on full display at last week’s convention. Both on and off the stage, reproductive freedom, caregiving, paid leave, survivor justice, and LGBTQ+ rights were on the agenda. Whether it was Tim Walz shouting out paid leave, abortion storytellers getting a primetime spot, or caregivers finally receiving their due on a national stage, our priorities were front and center as winning issues this election.
“What was also on the agenda was joy, hope, and an electric sense of possibility. Michelle Obama couldn’t have said it better when she declared that hope is making a comeback. We must continue to keep up the momentum to bring people together, especially when there are strong forces that seek to divide us, and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to the White House this November.”
