NWLC Action Fund Responds to Heritage Foundation Attempts at Damage Control Following Public Outcry over Project 2025 Agenda

Washington, DC — In response to the news that the director of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda is stepping down, and that the organization is putting an end to its policy work, Kiara Pesante Haughton, vice president at the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, released the following statement:

“Republicans are attempting to distance themselves from Project 2025 and its anti-abortion, anti-woman, anti-LGBTQI, anti-democratic agenda, but the facts remain unchanged: Trump allies and former Trump staffers crafted this agenda in specific preparation for a potential second Trump presidency.

“A Trump/Vance administration would aggressively pursue this agenda from day one — posing a direct threat to the rights and freedoms of women and girls across the country. They have proudly touted this plan for months, only now shying away because voters are paying attention to their radical agenda. They cannot get another chance to inflict the kind of harm outlined on their extreme wish list.”
