WASHINGTON – President Joseph Biden delivered his State of the Union address tonight, where he discussed critical gender justice priorities that are key to safeguarding our democracy and protecting individual rights, such as IVF and abortion access.

“President Biden knows that fighting for women and families isn’t just good policy — it’s also smart politics. In tonight’s address, the President reaffirmed his commitment to protecting women’s bodily autonomy and strengthening enforcement of the Violence Against Women Act. He emphasized the significance and cost of care work, and pledged to crack down on tax breaks that benefit billionaires and corporate giants. “His speech also underscored the stakes in this election. As the President noted, Republicans will do whatever it takes to undermine women’s economic security, including by further restricting reproductive rights and making drastic cuts to programs women and families rely on. That is why it’s imperative that we work to elect gender justice champions up and down the ballot this November.”
