We’re running out of time for the Senate to fill all judicial vacancies before Trump and a Republican-majority Senate take office in January. With the clock ticking, tell the Senate to act immediately to fill the bench with fair-minded judges. Our lives, our rights, and our future depend on it.
Let’s be clear: Once Trump takes office again, he will be able to nominate the same kind of extremist judges who are taking away our rights and with a Republican majority in the Senate, he will be able to swiftly get them confirmed. Trump-appointed judges have given way for presidential immunity, struck down Roe v. Wade, and worked tirelessly to advance an extreme, conservative agenda. These judges pose a serious threat to reproductive rights, LGBTQI+ equality, and our democracy. The current Senate MUST fill all vacancies and confirm fair and impartial judges who are dedicated to protecting the civil rights of all people.
As we saw during the first Trump administration, the courts are often our first line of defense in stopping or delaying harmful policies and checking abuses from the Executive Branch. To more effectively blunt attacks against our rights and our communities, we need more federal judges who are loyal to the Constitution, who are impartial, and who are committed to protecting civil liberties. Plus, due to a recent Supreme Court decision granting judges power over leading subject matter experts, judges can decide everything from the quality of the air you breathe, to the health care you can access, to the safety standards of the food in your local supermarket. That’s why we’re calling on President Biden and the Senate to confirm qualified, impartial judges committed to equal justice for all people to the bench. We need a judiciary that will protect reproductive rights, LGBTQI+ equality, and our democracy.
