    • She says on her campaign website that she “will work to rebuild an independent, impartial Department of Justice where the rule of law is applied fairly, consistently, and without political interference.”
    • Hines wrote an entire Substack piece on ending Citizens United and expanding democracy, in which she says:
      • “I support banning members of Congress and their spouses/dependent children from trading individual stocks.”
      • “I support overturning Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission”
      • “I will support passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act, after years of court decisions that have weakened protections against discrimination and voter suppression.”
      • “I will also support the Freedom to Vote Act, which would both protect access to the ballot and strengthen campaign finance transparency and accountability, including reforms aimed at reducing the influence of dark money in our elections.”

    • Bouchard made a Facebook post in support of the SAVE Act, including saying “Congress needs to pass the Save America Act immediately, this protects every Americans voice and vote.” This is a voter suppression bill that could harm millions of women and trans people.

    • Hines wrote an entire Substack piece on health care, in which she says:
      • “I believe that healthcare is a human right, and that every American should be able to get the care they need, when they need it, without going bankrupt.”

        • “Cap premiums and out-of-pocket costs—It shouldn’t matter where you get your insurance—public or private; everyone deserves affordable care.”
        • “Strengthen and expand the ACA, Medicare, and Medicaid—So that every family, every senior, and every child can count on stable, affordable coverage.”
        • “Support preventative care—Invest in local farms, healthy food options, expand paid family leave, and help people stay healthy in the first place, not just get treated after they’re already sick.”

    • Bouchard is endorsed by the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
    • He is endorsed by Michigan Right to Life, which sued to undo Michigan’s constitutional amendment enshrining abortion rights.
    • Bouchard refused to say in an interview whether or not he believes health care is a human right, saying instead “everyone should have the chance to go to the doctor they want.”

    • In the priorities section of her campaign website, Hines says “Ensuring our kids are set up for the future starts with improving education and making sure teachers and students have the resources they need to succeed in and out of the classroom. In K-12 and beyond, we must also invest in career and technical education to expand pathways for young people, so our children and grandchildren can stay, work, and build their lives and families right here in our community. We must also prioritize physical and mental health and address the root causes of today’s biggest challenges affecting kids”
    • Hines wrote an entire Substack piece on education, in which she says:
      • “many of the Republican strategies – defunding public education, cutting back on school lunches, special education, and Head Start – are NOT how we are going to improve our educational system.”
      • She includes policy priorities:
        1. “Protect Inclusive Education for All Students”
        2. “Our schools must be places where students are free from fear, harassment, and distraction. That means investing in safe buildings, clear anti-bullying measures, and mental health staff who can intervene before problems escalate.”

    • In the priorities section of her campaign website, Hines says “when I’m in Washington, I’ll work to lower the cost of essentials like groceries, childcare, housing, healthcare, and energy.”
    • She says on her campaign website that she “will fight to rebuild and strengthen the National Labor Relations Board and support pro-worker legislation like the PRO Act, so workers can organize, bargain fairly, and stand up for themselves without fear of retaliation. Strong unions and fair workplaces are essential to rebuilding the middle class here in Southeast Michigan.”

    • Bouchard has not publicly indicated whether he supports or opposes OBBBA (H.R. 1); however, has said he “couldn’t name any areas where he disagreed with Trump.” Trump’s policies, and specifically H.R. 1, are unpopular largely due to their negative impact on affordability, health care, and nutrition assistance.

    • In the priorities section of her campaign website, Hines says “I will also work to increase the federal minimum wage and expand paid family leave, so families don’t have to worry about their paycheck when caring for a newborn or a sick family member.”
    • In a Substack post, she says “I’ll push for childcare subsidies that make quality care affordable for working parents and ensure that early childhood educators are paid fairly and supported with training and resources.”
