Washington, DC – As the U.S. House of Representatives debates what to do about the expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits, Emily Martin, chief program officer at the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, released the following statement:
“This is Congress’s last chance to save millions of women and families from skyrocketing health care premiums before the new year. We finally have a compromise on a clean extension of the enhanced ACA tax credits. Yet instead of voting on that, Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing through his disastrous health care bill that won’t stop premium increases and would strip away abortion care coverage for women.
“We urge the House to reject Johnson’s anti-abortion health care bill and instead swiftly vote to advance the bipartisan three-year extension of the enhanced ACA tax credits bill led by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.”
