NWLC Action Fund on VP Harris’ Announcement to Strengthen Caregiving Support for Sandwich Generation

Washington, DC – Fatima Goss Graves, president of the National Women’s Law Center Action Fund, released a statement following reporting this morning that Vice President Kamala Harris will be announcing a new policy to support sandwich generation caregivers – those caring for both young children and aging parents – and help older Americans more easily age in their homes.

“The cost of care is one of the largest expenses for working families, and Kamala Harris has gone further than any other presidential candidate in finding comprehensive solutions to our nation’s inadequate caregiving infrastructure. Like roads and bridges, Vice President Harris understands that care is fundamental to our economy, and her new proposal to help older Americans age with dignity at home is a key complement to her longstanding leadership on elder and disability care, child care, paid leave, and the Child Tax Credit. Vice President Harris’ plan to support sandwich generation caregivers will help millions of families support their loved ones, lowering costs for families and easing the stress that has come to define caregiving.”
